Verne Clay Walton, Jr., 87 years old of North Salem, IN, died Friday, March 27, 2009 in I.U. Medical Center.

He was born November 14, 1921 in North Salem, IN, son of the late Verne Walton, Sr. and Dortha Faye Kendall.

He married Vera Lillian Keal on March 23, 1957. She survives.

He was a member of North Salem United Methodist Church, V.F.W. 3284, Roachdale and the American Legion Post 72, Crawfordsville.

He worked for General Motors, retiring in 1981. He was a farmer. He also taught Sunday school for 28 years.

Surviving are son, Mark (Kathy) Walton of North Salem, daughters, Lisa Anne (Kurt) Harker of West Lafayette and Amy Lynn (Stephen) Spencer of North Salem, brother, Charles Walton of Greenfield and 3 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 2 brothers & 2 sisters.

Friends will be received Monday, March 30, 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home, North Salem, Indiana.

Services will be held at North Salem United Methodist Church, Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Anne Spahr officiating.

Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, North Salem, Indiana.
