Spencer H. Martin, 92, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024. Spencer was born on November 14, 1931, in Putnam County, Indiana; the son of the late Homer Martin and Ritta (Meltabarger) Martin.

Spencer graduated from Roachdale High School in 1950, and afterward he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served aboard the U.S.S. Wren during the Korean War.

On November 1, 1952, he married Anna Lee Vaughn of Lizton and was a devoted husband until her death in 2000.

Spencer served as Rural Letter Carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Lizton from 1961 until his retirement in 1994.  He was a member of the Lizton Christian Church.

In addition to his parents and wife, Spencer was preceded in death by five sisters, Louise Robbins, Mildred Booker, Ruby Martin, Lois Vaughn, and Naomi Nelson.

He is survived by his daughters, Dena (Dave) Burris of Boulder, Montana and Marcia Jo (Brian) Martin of Cascais, Portugal; grandchildren, Wesley (Laurie) Burris of Avon, Indiana and Beth Anne (Nathan) Valentine of Worland, Wyoming; great grandchildren, Maisie Burris, Keith Valentine, Sam Valentine, and Wyatt Valentine; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services are planned for 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Porter and Hunt Funeral Home, 315 West Main Street in Jamestown, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services.  Burial will follow at K of P Cemetery in Lizton.
