Melvin Gene Morrison--Born April 6, 1921-Died August 20, 2008, 2 p.m.

Melvin was the third child born to Virgil W. and Goldie May (Clifton) Morrison at home at Advance, Indiana on April 6, 1921. He graduated from the eighth grade at Jamestown. He was a World War II veteran serving in Panama as an Aviation Machinists Mate 3C V6 USNR from June 29, 1942 to Dec 12, 1945. Melvin had been employed by the Antlers Hotel in Indianapolis, was a professional house painter, managed hotels, worked for Eli Lilly, sold cars and trucks, was a farmer at Lizton and Ladoga, retired from Lilly Industrial Coatings as a salesman after 30 years, and owned the Furniture Mart in Ladoga, IN with his wife Mary, until retiring in 2003.

Melvin was formerly married to Hildagarde Uhl who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by Virgil and Goldie--parents, Kathleen Morrison Eubanks--sister, Harold W and Kenneth L Morrison--brothers and is survived by a sister, Maxine. Melvin married Mary Lee Eubanks January 14, 1961 at Waynetown, IN. She cared for him until his death--she survives. Melvin is also survived by four children, Annemarie Gentry of Greenwood, Stephen of Crawfordsville, Joan Kuck of Selah, WA and Penny Williamson of Memphis, TN. He was also survived by seven grandchildren--two, Aaron and Deanna of Crawfordsville, two, Rene and Joshua in South Dakota and Bruce, Brian and Donald (Tad) in Greenwood.

There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Old Union Cemetery near Jamestown, IN on Friday August 22, 2008.
