Obituary

Karleen Stephan Ballard,84 passed away on Saturday the 5th of September 2009 at her home surrounded by her family and caregivers.

Karleen was born 28 September 1924 to Anna Blum and Charles Paul Stephan in Evansville, Indiana. She attended Delaware School and graduated from Central High School, after which she attended Evansville College and graduated from Lockyears Business College. She worked in a law office and then in the Library at Evansville College, during which time she married The Reverend Dr. Charles W. Ballard, on 23 November 1947 and together they served several appointments in the South Indiana Conference until their retirement from Memorial United Methodist Church, in Terre Haute in 1994.

Karleen spent her love, her energy and her life as a pastor's wife, mother, homemaker in which she excelled, but always seemed to have time, commitment and energy to assist in many Church organizations and community clubs being a member of P.E.O. BI Chapter, one of her favorites. She was truly a genuine Christian Lady.

Karleen is survived by her husband of almost 62 years, two sons, Franklin F. Ballard and Charles (Chuck) S. (Rosellen) Ballard both of Indianapolis, former daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Ballard of Palatine, IL. sister-in-law, Janet Ballard Huff of Evansville, IN, two nieces and three nephews and one special caregiver and friend Stephen Lewis.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, Anna Blum and Charles Paul Stephan, sister Ruth N. Stephan and a brother Wayne Charles Stephan.

Visitation will be Friday, 11 September 2009 from 3-7:00pm in the Church Parlor of Irvington United Methodist Church, and the Service of Memorial and Resurrection will be at 11:00am on Saturday, 12 September 2009 at the Irvington United Methodist Church, 30 North Audubon Road, Indianapolis. The interment will be in Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery in Evansville, IN at 1:00pm on Monday 14, September 2009.
