Obituary

Judith (Judy) Ann Dickson Barker, 78, of Crawfordsville, passed to her eternal home on January 16, 2020.

Judy was born August 22, 1941, in Crawfordsville, IN, to the late George D. and Florence L. Gray Dickson. She grew up in Jamestown, IN, and was a 1959 graduate of Granville Wells High School.

She is survived by her son, Mark A. (Pam) Barker, of Atlanta, IN; daughter, Sheryl S. McCance, of Bloomingdale, IN; daughter, Laura B. (James) Waye, of Fishers, IN; daughter, Kristy K. Barker, of Crawfordsville, IN; and daughter, Diane M. (Jason) Metzinger, of Chalmers, IN. Surviving grandchildren are Casey, Robert, and Morgan McCance; Daniel, Emily, Caroline, and Lauren Waye; and Madison, Bailey, Ryleigh, and Jaxon Metzinger. She is also survived by step-grandsons Nathan and Cory Metzinger, and Skylar Davis, as well as step-great-grandchildren, Landyn Metzinger, Bentley Percak, and Audrey Davis. Judy leaves behind extended family members and many friends, including her lifelong best friend, Martha Sellers. Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Jerry L. Dickson; and two infant grandsons, Jacob Waye and Kolby Metzinger.

Judy spent much of her life caring for her children and volunteering for their activities. Judy was a room mother and involved with the PTO at Ladoga Elementary School from the time her oldest child was in first grade until her youngest child was in 6th grade, spanning 14 years. She also made and decorated cakes for many people in and around the Ladoga and Crawfordsville areas for over 35 years. Later in life she worked in childcare and then at Big Lots, from where she retired in 2009. Judy belonged to Young Moderns Home Ec Club of Hendricks County for over 50 years and was also a member of Ladoga Community Church. In her spare time, Judy loved to read, do word and jigsaw puzzles, play board games, and do crafts.

Family and friends will gather Tuesday, January 21, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home, Jamestown, IN. Judy will be laid to rest in the Ladoga Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal shelter, Crawfordsville's REINdear program, Ladoga Community Church (7176 E. State Road 234, Ladoga, IN  47954), or a charitable organization of your choice.
