Letty "Jean" Todd Johnson
Jean, 76, of Advance, Indiana, passed away December 23, 2018 at St. Franciscan Hospital in Crawfordsville. She was born on September 19, 1942 to William Onis and Letty Jane Cheshire Todd, of Ladoga, Indiana, who preceded her in death.
Jean was the Valedictorian of the Class of 1960 at Ladoga High School and married Joe Aaron Johnson, of rural Jamestown on May 6, 1961.
During her lifetime, she worked at Indiana Bell Telephone Company, was the breakfast manager at McDonalds, worked at Walmart, and Economy Insurance in Lebanon. She and Joe purchased the New Ross Steak House in 1990, where she did the paperwork, was the hostess, and occasionally cooked and tended bar. One of her passions was meeting and greeting the customers and becoming friends with so many of them throughout the years.
Jean loved to work crossword puzzles, crochet, go fishing and mushroom hunting, and Chicago Cubs baseball. She also loved to attend professional baseball games, Austin Peay State University sporting events, and entering every casino that she happened to come near.
Jean has left behind her husband of 57 years, Joe Johnson of Advance, and children, Andrea (Glen) Boehm of Winchester, Lynn (Deanna Burton) Johnson of Indianapolis, Terri (Tracy) Batts of Lebanon, Mike Johnson of Ladoga and Joni Johnson of Clarksville, Tennessee, grandchildren, Rachel MacKinnon of Lafayette, Caleb (Kelly) MacKinnon of rural Jamestown, Vanesa Strong Caldwell of Lebanon, Hannah MacKinnon of New Market, Virginia, and Lydia MacKinnon of Lebanon, 4 Step-grandchildren, Tristen Batts, Nathan Boehm, Joshua Boehm and Aaron Boehm. She also leaves behind 8 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, Onis and Letty Todd, brothers, Jon Todd and Don Todd and grandson, Joey Strong, who was killed in Iraq.
Family and friends will gather for visitation, Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Porter Funeral Home, Jamestown, IN, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Graveside services will follow at the New Ross Cemetery, New Ross, Indiana.
