Mrs. Janie B. Brown, 76, of Advance, passed away March 18, 2017, at her residence in Advance.

Janie was born on June 2, 1940, in Danville, IN, the daughter of the late Richard Raymond and Opal Louise (Willis) Shover. She married Benny Eugene Brown. He passed away on April 22, 1999.

Janie was a lifelong resident of Jamestown and she attended Jamestown High School. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, along with reading and antiques. Janie loved flowers and gardening. Her family was very special to her, especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She devoted her life to caring for others.

Survivors include her children Terri Lynn Mitchell and companion Jody Hawk of Advance and Tony Eugene (Marianne) Brown of Indianapolis; her grandchildren Tasha (Jeff) Wertz and Jacob Holt; and her great-grandchildren Paxton, Dixon, and Abigail Wertz. Janie was preceded in death by her husband Benny Brown and granddaughter Amy Brown- Aguayo.

Family and friends will gather Tuesday, March 21, 2017 for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and services will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Porter Funeral Home, Jamestown.
