Carmel
James Lee Phillips, 89, of Jamestown, Indiana, was born August 23, 1935 in Tazewell, Virginia, to his parents C.Q. and Mary Phillips. James went to be with the Lord on December 27, 2024, passing peacefully in his sleep with his son James Phillips and daughter-in-law Helen Phillips by his side.
James Phillips attended schools in his home state of Virginia before the family relocated to Fairborn, Ohio, where James completed his high school diploma at Fairborn High School. James served with distinction, reaching the level of Master Sergeant and would be honorably discharged in 1958. James' love of cars would lead to a lifelong career in the car business, where he worked first as a salesman for Chevrolet and would later own and manage Highland Volkswagen and Subaru in Christiansburg, Virginia from 1968 until his retirement in 1992.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Phillips; parents, C.Q. and Mary Phillips; and sisters, Madeline Grody, Shirley Vance, and Buddy Phillips.
James is survived by sister, Janet Bland and his son, James Lee Phillips II.
