Ernest "Ernie" Melvin Sims, 83 of North Salem, IN, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018 in Hendricks Regional Health.
He was born March 3, 1934 in Crab Orchard, KY, son of the late Claude and Rachel (Jones) Sims.
He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Jamestown. He was a fan of western movies and enjoyed bowling, playing darts and card games.
Ernest is survived by his son, Paul (Rhonda) Sims of Brownsburg, daughter, Ida "Shellie" Manning of Lizton, grandchildren, Andrea Manning, Devon Downey, Mandi Sims, Lexie Manning and Treavor Manning. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Sims and daughter, Misty Hedrick.
Family and friends will gather Friday, February 9, 2018, 4:00 p.m. until time of service at 6:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, Jamestown, IN, with Pastor Phillip Clements officiating. Ernest will be laid to rest in Lincoln Memory Gardens, Zionsville, IN.
