Effie Inas Smith, 77, of Jamestown, Indiana, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon.  She was born in Casey County, Kentucky on June 26, 1944, a daughter of the late Thomas Woodrow Wethington and Laura May (Summers) Wethington.

She was a 1963 graduate of Granville Wells High School. Effie was a dedicated worker at Canada Farms in Jamestown for many years. She enjoyed being outdoors fishing, hunting mushrooms or picking raspberries and watching wildlife particularly deer and turkey. She liked to tell about catching a bass on her birthday that was over 5 pounds. She was also a lifelong fan of Country & Western movies & TV shows; John Wayne movies being her favorite. Above all, she enjoyed being with her grandchildren and other children in the family who lovingly referred to her as "Aunt Inie."

Survivors include her sons Roger (Martha) Smith of Lebanon, Paul (Paula) Smith of Fortville and Woodrow Smith of Indianapolis, five grandchildren Roth (Allison) Cardona of Indianapolis, Connor Smith of Clayton, Brenna Smith of Lebanon, Michael Smith of Fortville and Hunter Smith of Indianapolis, sisters Phyllis McKinney of Lebanon, Carolyn (Bob) Hudson of Alabama and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Effie was preceded in death by two brothers, David Wethington and Kenneth "Bill" Wethington.

The family will greet friends for visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the Porter and Hunt Funeral Home & Crematory, 315 West Main Street, in Jamestown, Indiana.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be directed in her memory to the Ranney Family Scholarship Fund, c/o North Salem State Bank, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
