Dorothy Faye Chastain, 86 years old of North Salem, IN, died Sunday, August 15, 2010 in Hendricks Regional Health.

She was born January 14, 1924 in Kalamazoo, MI, daughter of the late Floyd S. and Carrie M. Booker Huffman.

She married Harvey Chastain on February 21, 1946. He preceded her in death.

She served in the US Army as a 2nd Lt. nurse during World War II.

She was a member of North Salem Christian Church.

She worked as a registered nurse.

Surviving are sons, Gregory L. (Cheryl) Chastain, Steven K (Cherie) Chastain, and Jeffery C (Yvonne) Chastain, Grandchildren, Scott (Bogi) Chastain, Angela (Howard) Norris, Katie (Justin) Palmer, Amber (Ryan) Chapman, Jacob (Rachel) Chastain, Leah (Will) Stanley, and Caleb Chastain, great-grandchildren, Troy Chastain, Jonas Norris, and Jaida Chapman, brothers, James F. Huffman, Sherman Huffman, Robert Huffman, and Patrick Huffman, and sisters, Peggy Walters and Janice Clouse.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Carrie Rutherford.

Friends will be received Wednesday, August 18, 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Porter Funeral Home, North Salem, Indiana.

Services will be held at, Porter Funeral Home, Thursday, August 19,, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John D. Gossett officiating.

Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, North Salem, Indiana.
