Donald
Russell
Feb 18, 1950 — Aug 16, 2019
Donald Eugene Russell
"Dad, Pop, Pappy, Papaw Wussell"
Don was born on February 18, 1950 in Lebanon, IN to Chas and Eula Russell. Surrounded by his family, he peacefully went to be with our good Lord on August 16, 2019. On May 29, 1967, Don married his sweetheart, Betty Jane (Trent) Russell.
He left a beautiful legacy behind, starting with his kids Geneva Russell (Jeff Blackmore) of North Salem, Shane Russell (Angie) of Jamestown, Pam Collins (Dave) and Toby Russell (Laura) of New Ross, Kaycee Janssen (Andy) of Nevis, MN. His biggest blessings were his family, especially his grandchildren Emilee Muse, Drew Russell, Brooke Kibby (Kyle), Ali Hieston, Morgan Collins, Kaylee Collins, Josh Russell (Sadies), Bryce Russell, Millie Janssen, and soon-to-arrive Brindley Janssen; and his great-grandchildren Ava and Harrison Kibby.
Don could frequently be caught playing jokes on his siblings sister-in-law Mary Jane Russell (Kyle), Bob Russell (Betty Barnett), Glenn Russell (Jo), Chuck Russell (Teresa), Steve Russell (Vickie), and Betty Fishback (Bob). He also has several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Kyle Russell, sister Jane Fishback, brother-in-law Frank Fishback, sister-in-law Belva Russell and two grandbaby angels.
Don would give his last dime and the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He never wanted to be praised for his work or the things he did for others. He was a hard-working man, a family man, our Daddy, Pop, Pappy, Papaw Wussell, and hero. You could describe him many ways but most of all, he was humble, loyal, loving, giving, hilarious, witty and ornery.
Don was self-employed as a master carpenter for many years, retiring in 2012. After retirement, he went to work for his brother-in-law and nephew at Trent Heat & Cool. He was a perfectionist and had several clients that would let only him do their carpentry work.
Some of his favorite hobbies include camping, fishing, hunting and watching Nascar. He was the biggest Dale Earnhardt fan you would ever meet. The thing that he enjoyed the most was spending time with his family at the "Silver Rock Ranch" and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved his trips to Minnesota to spend time with his K Jack, Millie and Andy too.
Dad/Pappy/Papaw will be incredibly missed. He touched more lives than he realized and more than we will ever know. As his family, we are honored to continue his legacy and remember the best man we will ever know.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
